Family Information and PTA News. 13 May 2022
As we race through our penultimate half term, I’m enjoying the longer evenings immensely. Staff are making best use of the better weather, both on and offsite and things generally seem to be heading in the right direction.
Circus Starr Tickets
We had a higher than expected demand for the Circus Starr tickets this year. We receive 100 tickets, 50 for each performance. Even with a limit of 4 tickets per family, and most families requesting 4 we can only provide them to 25 of our 173 families. I was off last week, due to unforeseen circumstances so there was a delay in circulating. Tickets have been sent by post to those families who were successful. The remaining families are on a waiting list. Could I please ask that:
If your plans have changed and you are no longer able to attend, you return the tickets to me as soon as possible so that I can send to others?
These tickets are provided free of charge, as a result of community funding. Funders want feedback, so if you attend please do share your experience with them so that these continue. If we receive them next year, we have retained names of those who received them this year and will try to ensure that as many families as possible have the opportunity to attend.

Activities:
Over the past few months I have shared lots of links, suggestions and specific events. I have to admit to running low on ideas at this stage, so would appreciate your help. This could be suggestions, or things which interest you/your young person and family. I will then target my research. There are locality specific ideas on your Local Offer. If you need help with this, please contact me.
Here’s one I haven’t shared

Fundraising
In just over 4 months time over 50,000 people will run from Newcastle to South Shields in the 2022 Great North Run.
The Foundation has limited spaces remaining, so if you are up for a challenge and want to help us raise some valuable funds for Percy Hedley please sign up today.
Claire, you are an inspiration and I know other parents are taking part too, with some students entering the mini and junior GNR’s too.
PTA
The PTA happily supports school to enhance the learning experience for all students. If your child visits the National Trust, the membership fee to access the grounds is covered by us.
MOVE events. Many of the resources used are paid for by the PTA and I can honestly say that they bring great joy to students and staff, whilst complementing the therapy curriculum.
There are lovely plans to enhance the outdoor learning space which the PTA will support. I can’t wait to see progress in this area.
Summer fayre
I’m sure you hadn’t forgotten we are having a summer fayre and want you to come along, bring your family, friends and anyone you think would enjoy it. I hope to share more specifics in the next couple of weeks.
Meeting
We have a sub committee for planning the Summer fayre who will meet on Monday.
The next PTA Meeting is Tuesday 17th May from 14-15.00. We are very hopeful of a return to face to face, but on this occasion we will do it on TEAMS as notice is too short for some of the committee. The link to join is here
Facebook Page:
Our membership is growing steadily. Just a reminder that it is for parents/carers and staff of our students. It is a closed group and we do not have permission to share images of every student across all social media, so please do not share images of children other than your own. If they are on the foundation page, you can share. The link to join the Facebook page is here
Let’s hope the heatwave forecast for the weekend comes true, especially if you’re heading for one of the blue flag beaches.
