I want to highlight and important source of information on our website. Maria, our IT Lead has compiled a wealth of resources to provide you with the most up to date information to keep your children/young people safe online. It is a rapidly changing world and she is happy to provide individual support if required.

Contact-for families of disabled children

As this is the first week back, I will limit it to a link to this website. Here you will find a link to information for families under different subheadings. They also have a free helpline, number below.

Open Monday – Friday, 9.30am-5pm (On Tuesday the line opens slightly later at 10.15) It is not open on public holidays.

On behalf of school, I would like to wish the very best of luck to those parents, carers, staff and students taking part in The Great North Run or Junior versions this weekend. I hope that it is not too hot. Thanks to those raising funds for Percy Hedley Foundation.

Alan Shearer Centre:

See the photo above for the Roald Dahl Storytelling Woodland Walk on Saturday 9th at 12pm. This may be last minute but worth ringing to see if there’s any space left.

Heritage Open Days

This weekend there are some open days, with free entry to a range of places including the following:

Wallington Hall, Sunday 10^th/Monday 11^th September

Segedunum Roman Fort, Saturday 9^th/Sunday 10^th

Seaton Delaval Hall, Saturday 9^th

St Mary’s Lighthouse, Saturday 9^th/Sunday 10^th.

Just Giving page

We have a just giving page for anyone who would like to donate to support the work of the FoPHS and the link is below.

Autumn Fayre:

Thanks to those who have sent in donations and offered support. I will be in touch with more information in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, we would welcome donations of bottles (alcohol/non alcoholic), chocolate, raffle prizes, new toys/gift sets. These can be sent in marked for my attention. I will send out posters. Please invite your friends and family. In past years families have told us they enjoy meeting other families and bringing their children/young people together in a familiar place. We love seeing former students too and hope this one is even better, as our aim is to make them even better every year. If you can distribute posters, please let me know.

100 Club.

We have a 100 club, where for an annual cost of £12, you will be entered into a draw each month. 50% of the revenue is retained to cover costs of memberships (Parentkind, National Trust, Tim Lamb Centre) and the remainder is given back to the winner of each draw. It takes time to generate interest, get forms back etc so we do the draws in 2 batches of 6, with the first 6 drawn at the AGM and the 2^nd in July. The form with full information is below. Last year we raised £576, which was our best year. If you wish to join, please complete the form and return with payment. Hard copies will be sent out in the next week or so.
