#PaintTheToon Purple 2024!

On Friday 16th we both celebrated our 71st Birthday and our second #PaintTheToon event!

To commemorate turning 71 on Friday February 16th, the Foundation celebrated our second #PaintTheToon Purple event. This is where we ask people around the North East to paint the town in purple, whether this is by dressing in purple, donning purple accessories or hosting a purple themed event.

Hedleys College and Horizons took advantage of the purple props, dressing in top hats and feather bowers.

Northern Counties hosted a purple themed cake sale, raising over £200 in sales!

And they put a purple spin on their Curriculum Theme, this half term. Students have been learning about Local Places at school this term and even visited a few locations, including the Sycamore Gap where the Sycamore Gap Tree once stood, Bamburgh Castle, and the famous bridges along the River Tyne. They where then tasked to make models of these locations, with one rule that they had to be purple in some shape or form.

The spectacular purple landmarks where then judged, with the Sycamore Gap model winning! The winning class were then presented with a trophy to commemorate their hard work.

Even businesses got involved!

Pin Point Recruitment did an indoor cycling challenge, Medsolve filled in Football Cards and Standby Healthcare decorated their office and themselves in purple whilst playing some games through out the day. Medsolve raised over £400 on the day and we thank them, as well as all the other businesses, for taking part!

We thank everyone who participated and fundraised for us to celebrate our birthday! We loved seeing how you painted the toon purple and can’t wait to see what next year brings.
