Our New Sensory Playground at Northern Counties School!

We've officially opened our new Sensory Playground at Northern Counties!

Thanks to fundraising from last year’s annual charity ball, a side car park has been transformed into a new sensory playground at Northern Counties!

At our annual charity ball last year, we campaigned for a new Sensory Playground. Businesses heard from learners and staff, including Liam, Evie-Jean and staff member Mandy who highlighted the desire to have a playground where every learner, no matter their ability, could play with their friends.

And thanks to funding from businesses like Winn Group, that desire became a reality!

Now, the space is filled with sensory equipment that all our learner’s can use, including raised flower beds with wheelchair accessible spaces, a sunken trampoline, a covered sandpit, a wheelchair accessible roundabout, a water feature, and more.

It’s now filled with colour and sensory aspects that everyone can enjoy; what a transformation!

We had the pleasure of inviting businesses in to come and see what their money has went towards. They even braved the rain to cut the ribbon, officially opening the playground.

We also caught up with some of learner’s later when the sun had come back and got to see them enjoying the playground! It’s fantastic to see them playing with their friends, whether they are in a walker, wheelchair or are ambulant.
