Great North Run 2026 was truly spectacular!
Nearly 100 runners ran the iconic half-marathon for #TeamPercyHedley, running from Newcastle to South Shields in the 45th edition of the Great North Run. We’re so grateful to every single person who dedicated their time and efforts to us.
#TeamPercyHedley included staff members, family and friends of those we support and more. We even saw previous students, like Kate, and we’re so proud to see how far they’ve come!
We are so proud to announce that the Great North Run has raised over £38,000, helping disabled children, young adults and adults, as well as their families, across the North East.
Our runners were supported by our sponsors ECBS, Big Purple Production and Acedia Care
Employees of ECBS even took part in the run. Operations Director Michael called the race, “inspirational in many ways, it was challenging but very worthwhile.”
Post race, our runners joined us in the Charity Village for some well-deserved bubbles and treats.
Volunteer physiotherapists from Northumbria University joined us to provide some much-needed sports massages, and Bidfood generously donated energy drinks to fuel our runners.

We’re looking to create the biggest team ever next year and have limited spaces, which is why we recommend entering the ballot for an Own Place and running for the Percy Hedley Foundation.
Anyone who isn’t successful in gaining an Own Place will be guaranteed one of our Percy Hedley Charity Places. It’s the only way to be certain of a place in the 2027 Great North Run!
