Wellbeing Team

As a key driver, wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. The role of the school Wellbeing Team is to promote and support the emotional health and wellbeing of all pupils, to ensure they can access the curriculum and school activities to their full potential. The team consists of a Lead Speech and Language Therapist and two school-based counsellors; as well as key learning support staff who have been identified as ‘Wellbeing Champions’.

What the Wellbeing Team Do:

The Wellbeing Team provides additional support to students and class teams.

The team can support directly or indirectly with students throughout each key stage in school. Individual support can be provided through 1:1 counselling sessions, play therapy, coaching, and mentoring.

We have a designated Wellbeing Room, which provides a safe and private space that students can access during timetabled sessions, or on a drop-in basis.

The team can also support students in class or as part of the wider class team. The team works in conjunction with class teams, other therapists and PBS coaches in school to provide a holistic approach to ensure the emotional health and wellbeing needs of our students are supported throughout their time at our school.

You can see what the Wellbeing Room like below:

Zones of Regulation

The Zones of Regulation is an approach based around the use of four colours to help students self-identify how they’re feeling and categorise it based on colour. It is designed to help students better understand their emotions, sensory needs and thinking patterns.

The students learn different strategies to cope and manage their emotions based on which colour zone they’re in. The Zones of Regulation helps students to recognise their own triggers, learn to read facial expressions, develop problem-solving skills, and become more aware of how their actions affect other people.

Resilience Framework

The Resilience Framework summarises a set of ideas and practices that promote resilience. It is based on a body of research and practice development called Resilient Therapy (RT).

The Resilience Framework helps to develop ‘resilience approaches’ that support students over time through a whole school approach.

Once a term every class in school has a collapsible timetable day, during which all activities have a focus around resilience.
