Tyne Tunnels Funds a New Shed at NCS

Tyne Tunnels generously donated £8000 to fund the creation of a new sustainable shed, which has become a vital part of Northern Counties School's forest school.

It all began with mood boards, where students drew what they wanted their new sustainable shed to look like. Ideas included a beauty room, a games room, and a haven for the bees. Students then voted on which idea they liked the best.

Once an idea was decided on, all that was left was to build the shed. Tyne Tunnels helped to install the shed in the Forest School area of Northern Counties School, beginning with the foundations.

You can see some of the in-progress shots below:

But soon, the shed was completed and ready for the inside to be decorated. This shed would greatly help the Forest School and was soon decorated to become a learning area for the students. There’s tables for various activities, including whittling wood and making Log Dogs, books for learning, and pictures of the students decorate the walls.

In July Sophie, a member of the Tyne Tunnels team, visited Northern Counties School to see how the shed was being utilised. Despite the rain, students had great fun, including swinging, cutting wood and roasting smores over an open fire.

We’d like to massively thank Tyne Tunnels for the funds in order to build this new sustainable shed, it has become a staple of the school’s Forest School and the students absolutely love it.
