Family Information and PTA News 4th November 2022

Welcome back. I hope that you did some nice things over half term. As always I appreciate your sharing these with me so that I can tell others. I never underestimate the value of parental perspectives and over many years have  gained so much knowledge from other parents experiences.

16-19 Student Bursary.

Letters will soon be sent to families of students who are

  •  at least 16 and under 19 on 31 August 2022

and it is important that if you meet the eligibility criteria you return the forms. If you have any questions, please contact me.  I am meeting with finance next week to discuss eligibility criteria, evidence gathering and will arrange a meeting with those parents who may be eligible afterwards. This could be in person or via TEAMS. Let me know what you would prefer. The bursary, for those eligible is to support 16-19 year olds in education/training and could be used as the contribution to next year’s residential trip. Generally, if your household income is less than £40,000 per annum you could be eligible for a bursary to cover additional costs of education.

PTA

The PTA has 2 meetings over the next 2 weeks. The first of these is an evening meeting, which is on Tuesday 8th November from 19.30-20.30. This will be via Microsoft TEAMS and the link is below:
The AGM will be held the following week on Tuesday 15th November from 9.30-11.00 in school.
We are fortunate at PHS to have a dedicated group of parents who have taken on officer roles. As I have not had any expression of interest from other parents, there is no requirement for postal ballots and the election of officers will take place during the meeting.
We are actively seeking new active members of the PTA and committee and would greatly appreciate your support. You asked for evening as well as day time meetings and we are offering alternate day/evening options.  Further information can be found on the PTA section of the website or from me.
Please join the TEAMS meeting on Tuesday; it’s an opportunity to find out more and talk with the committee and each other. I truly believe in the value of the PTA in supporting all of our students and enhancing school life for them.
Please get in contact with me should you need further information  and I look forward to seeing people in their droves pop up on TEAMS on Tuesday evening.
