Family Information and FOPHS News Friday 22nd March 2024
Welcome to Percy Hedley School's Family Liaison Blog!
22.03.24
Has Spring finally arrived? It has been warmer and sunnier. I have yet to see my first baby lamb; last year it was around this time.
This week we had EGGcited to Move in school. The creativity and work that goes into these days never fails to impress. We are fortunate to have such a fantastic team organising and the support from FoPHS helps with purchasing resources. I hope your children enjoyed it. You will have the opportunity to see what these days are like in the summer term where, for the last 2 years we have offered parents/carers an opportunity to see it by combining it with a social coffee morning. So, if you need plenty of notice this will be on Wednesday 10th July!
There was another variation on an Easter Egg hunt in school which looked fantastic, not of the edible kind.

Free School Meals
For those eligible for income related free school meals, your vouchers will be valid from Friday 29th March.
I have emailed those on my list. If your circumstances have changed or do change at any time, please contact me and I will support. I have heard from North Tyneside that the HAF (household activity and food fund) will continue for the next 6 months. This means that you will still receive vouchers for half term and the summer holidays. Just a reminder; these vouchers are provided to support families on a low income with the cost of feeding their child during the school holiday for which they are provided. I do send reminders, but if the vouchers are not activated, they will be cancelled by the council and cannot be reissued.
If you have any questions on this, please get in touch with me

Additional links

FoPHS News
Following the meeting last week, I have arranged to meet with the Chair and with another parent on a separate occasion to look at our plans going forward for:
- Supporting the development of the Outdoor Learning Area.
- Setting up an Amazon wish list.
Easter gifts have been ordered/purchased for all students. We are, as ever grateful to parent Chris, mum to James and Harry for continuing to support us. On this occasion, most will be funded by FoPHS.
Does anyone remember the number generator we ran a couple of years ago? The prize was a spa break and we raised £750 for the then PTA. We have been offered a 3–4-night stay at Cresswell Towers Caravan Park, Northumberland with dates during school holidays still available. It is a 3 bed, 1 double, 2 twin bed caravan with decking, making it more accessible. It is not a fully accessible caravan. There are some conditions, no dogs, smoking in the caravan etc. Full details will be shared. Each number will be £3, and we would hope to draw this as soon as we can; it will depend on level of interest. We will promote at events next week and letters sent with options on how to pay: QR code, cash, BACS, cheque all acceptable.

FoPHS 100 Club
It’s never too late to join our 100 club.
To date 58 have been, and as 6 draws have already been done, we will give you 2 numbers for £12.

My thought for the week now that Spring has arrived! It pretty much puts into words why it is my favourite season.
“Spring is all about new beginnings and transformations; it’s a season that symbolizes starting fresh and starting over. After months of cold temperatures that often result in many of us feeling the winter blues, spring reawakens us and our surrounding environment, bringing everything back to life”.
