How Our Students Helped Make a 100th Birthday Unforgettable
Students from Northern Counties school made a very special birthday visit.
When Fleming Court Care Home staff sent out an appeal to the local community to help a resident celebrate their 100th birthday, our learners from Northern Counties made sure to be part of their special day.
Maisie Dalziel had simply asked for “nicely written cards” to celebrate her centenary, so it’s safe to say she was touched by the overwhelming response from the community.
Our BSL choir visited with handmade cards and gifts, before treating Maisie to a special rendition of ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ and of course ‘Happy Birthday’.
Fleming Court staff said there wasn’t “a dry eye in the house” from the “truly special performance”. Check out some of the wonderful performance here:
BSL Choir Lead Mandy Davison said:
“We wanted to come and do a special thing for a special lady.
“Reaching such a remarkable milestone is inspiring, and our students were honoured to be part of Maisie’s special celebration.”
Alongside our students paying a visit, Maisie also received a performance from songstress Claire Louise, afternoon tea, a cake and countless cards and gifts from the local community.
It was a wonderful day to celebrate the achievements of an inspirational woman.
Happy birthday Maisie!
