Our post 16 provision offers a bespoke curriculum based on students individual needs and aspirations. We are building on those skills already achieved and enabling students to apply and adapt within a broad range of meaningful real life contexts. We aim to equip our students to transition to adult life and empower them to:
- Live as independently as possible
- Explore and develop skills and interests
- Actively participate in the wider community
- Develop and maintain positive relationships
- Play an active role in supporting their own health and wellbeing
Our curriculum follows the 4 key areas of preparation for adulthood:
Post 16 provision to support Independence
East cottage
Students within post 16 have access to our on site cottage where they are able to learn and practice daily living skills including preparing meals, drinks and snacks, cleaning, laundry, decorating and DIY. Students have had input into setting up and maintaining the cottage and are also able to use for social activities
Work experience
Post 16 students are given opportunities to engage in a rage of work experience roles within a school and community based context based on personal interests and skills. Students are responsible for setting up and running enterprise businesses including breakfast club, tuck shops and car washing with profits being used for social events organised by the students themselves.
