I am delighted to welcome you to Northern Counties School website and would like to thank you for your interest in finding out more about us.

We are a very special school with a national reputation for excellent practice. We provide education, therapy and care with a specialised Total Communication approach.

All of our students have communication difficulties and our staff are highly trained in a wide range of approaches to maximise every child's ability to communicate effectively. We are all trained to sign and also use speech, picture symbols, PECS and Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems including Voice Output Communication Aids.

Our students are encouraged as individuals to meet their full potential and become as independent as they can.

We provide specialist teaching and therapy within excellent facilities which are available to children throughout the region. We also provide a residential setting for students from further afield.
