Director of Children's Services leaves the Foundation for pastures new
Norman Stromsoy is presented with a farewell gift from his colleagues at the Percy Hedley School
Norman Stromsoy left the Percy Hedley Foundation at the end of October to take up a post with Westminster City Council as an Executive Headteacher with responsibility for two schools and an inclusion, outreach initiative.
Norman has worked in special needs education throughout his career. He began his role as Head teacher of Percy Hedley in 1998 and was appointed Director of Children's Services in 2005.
Norman has always been pioneering in his approach and was instrumental in securing excellent provision for pupils at Percy Hedley and Northern Counties Schools. During his time as Headteacher, Norman opened a purposely designed secondary provision and post 16-unit on the Killingworth site, a new integrated nursery on the Northern Counties site and supported the merger of the Northern Counties and Percy Hedley charities. During the last months of his employment within the Foundation, he worked hard to establish plans for a new Children's Centre, which will benefit many children and their families in the North East.
Norman's vision for the future and his unstinting drive for high standards is a legacy which will benefit the organisation for a long time to come. We wish him well in his new appointment.
