The John Laing Powerchair Rugby weekend was extremely successful with teams taking part from across the country. The John Laing Cup was won by the Red Arrows team and we hope that this event will become an annual competition. Coaching over the weekend was provided by Newcastle Falcons and Rugby Union coaches and players.

There was also a social event at Kingston Park for players to relax and swap rugby stories with members of the Newcastle Falcons. This was also supported by John Laing and the Newcastle business community and raised funds for team Sports Powerchairs through a charity auction and raffle, helping to establish a Powerchair Rugby Association to develop this new and exciting game.

Des Bustard, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Percy Hedley Foundation said: "We are extremely grateful to the John Laing team in Newcastle and the John Laing Charitable Trust in London for their active involvement and support which has made it possible for many more young disabled people to take part in this physically challenging team sport ".
