Education inspectors have praised a regional College for their good quality of their provision. The Northern Counties College is a provider of specialist further education to young people aged 18 - 25 with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
Angela Gilbert, the College Principal, said today "I am delighted with the inspection results as they reflect the hard work and commitment of all staff across the College. Teaching and Learning were praised as well as the advice, guidance and support given to students by the highly committed team". "All this despite the fact that the college has only been open for less than two years, it's fantastic progress" she added.
Northern Counties College, which is based in Jesmond, provides high quality specialist therapies including health related advice and care. The development of independence and employability skills are at the heart of the College curriculum and building work is nearing completion on an ambitious 'Employability Development Centre' on the site.
Assessments are currently taking place for students wishing to join the college from September 2008. Anyone wishing for more information should contact Angela Gilbert on 0191 2812888.
