Medical Centre
Many of our children have health problems which need careful monitoring in school time.
For parents, it can be a real worry ensuring that the appropriate level of care is available when their child is away from home, therefore close links are encouraged between home and nursing staff.
At Northern Counties School one of our particular areas of expertise is the nursing and medical support available throughout the school day and into the evening for resident pupils.
We have two fully qualified and experienced nurses, one full time and one part time, who
work from the well-equipped Medical Centre seeing to the needs of children requiring indirect
or direct monitoring and nursing care.
The nurses are able to care for virtually any health problems which need support including relatively frequent conditions such as asthma or epilepsy to less common problems needing specialised care - enteral feeding, stoma care and tracheostomy maintenance.
The school has a keen interest in health promotion issues and the link between health and education has allowed us to achieve the Healthy School Award.
The nurses can be contacted at any time via a paging system or by e-mail (medical@northern-counties-school.co.uk) and have close links to local hospitals.
