Background

Behind the imposing Victorian facade which is such a familiar landmark in Newcastle, has developed one of the most up to date schools of its kind in Britain.

The school has been on the Jesmond site since 1861 and has excellent facilities including swimming and hydrotherapy pools, a sensory room, a light stimulation room and outdoor play areas. Classrooms are well resourced and specialist equipment is available.

Therapy staff are based on site and work in collaboration with high numbers of teachers and specialist support workers.

The campus has recently been developed to include a new college for students with comples needs. This is the first of its kind in the region and maximises opportunities for our young people to move on in their education, with a very smooth transition into adult services and maintaining the same level of staff expertise.

Our campus is very close to Newcastle City Centre and students are able to access the many educational oportunities offered in the museums, art galleries and leisure facilities in the locality.
