There was a night of celebration on July 4th as the college honoured the many achievements of its students.

Before an audience of students, parents and other family members as well as distinguished guests from business, awards were presented for outstanding work in a number of areas. All of the winners were chosen by college staff or students. Staff all agreed that choosing the winners was very difficult because of the high standards of work throughout the year.

The winners were:

  • Work Skills - the Café Team (Northern Nosh)
  • Independence - Adam Biggs
  • Outstanding Effort - Anileda Shani
  • Life Skills - Richard Hull
  • Work Experience - Daniel Walsh
  • The Principal's Award - Mary Suggett
  • The Student's Award - Ross Bateman

Many other students were commended in areas where they had worked particularly hard; they just missed out on winning an award but members of staff stood before the audience and made sure that their hard work and progress was recognised and celebrated.

The evening was rounded off very pleasantly with a delicious buffet and drinks in the College Restaurant. This was the college's first awards evening and everyone who attended judged it to be a resounding success. We look forward to an equally enjoyable evening next year and are currently researching a suitable venue.
