Employability Project
Based at Northern Counties College, the Employability Project works across the Percy Hedley Foundation, aiming to develop employability opportunities for students, service users and residents.
Funded by the Learning & Skills Council and working closely with the Employers Forum on Disability, the project manager contacts appropriate employers and discusses opportunities they may have to offer in the form of visits, work experience, placements or actual employment.
The project hosts a number of events for employers, intermediaries and disabled people to consider topical employability issues.
The Employability Project will break down the barriers that employers envisage exist to employing disabled people. It will encourage local organisations to be socially responsible and proactive by acting as a link between employers, intermediaries and disabled people.
