Residential Services

Chipchase House and Ferndene are situated in a quiet residential area of Forest Hall, approximately 5 miles from the Centre of bustling Newcastle and seven miles from the wonderful Northumbrian coastline, both of which are served by accessible local transport.

The age range of the people presently living at Chipchase House is between 20 and 74 years of age.

We offer a choice of living options to meet the needs of the individual. All accommodation is single occupancy and ranges from single bedrooms, with a shared kitchen, bathroom and toilet, self-contained bed sitting accommodation with integrated kitchen, private bathroom and toilet. The bungalows are set within a covered street and have one bedroom, an open plan kitchen/living area and a spacious bathroom.

Every resident has a dedicated worker (Care Plan Co-ordinator) who helps to formulate the Care Plan and ensures that it reflects the needs and wishes of the resident.

All residents have access to the many and varied activities and courses provided by our Day Centre, residents can choose to attend on a sessional or a full time basis whichever is their preference. Assistance can also be arranged to help people access local colleges ect.

At Percy Hedley we aim to promote independence and to enable residents to achieve a rich and fulfilling life, with this in mind we help residents to use and maintain their skills and encourage them to work towards new goals.

We are expanding our services and have opened a new residential supported living facility "Moor View" which is situated in Jesmond on our Northern Counties site, close to the heart of the city. This is a self contained flat with single occupancy rooms with shared lounge, kitchen, bathroom and toilet. As this is a supported living facility all service users living here will be responsible for carrying out the weekly shop, planning menus and undertaking household tasks.

There are also well developed plans to renovate "Tyne House" on the Northern Counties site in Jesmond. This new facility will be able to offer residential accommodation to seven people from June 2009.
