Percy Hedley Academy for Disability Sport

Wheelchair Sports
Powerchair Rugby

Powerchair Rugby was invented at Percy Hedley and has had a sporadic history so far in terms of its development. 2007 saw the first National Cup held at the Percy Hedley Sports Academy and 2008 see's the first club being held full time at the Sports Academy.

Participants will be taken through all the necessary skills and techniques to play this game and will be taught all of the rules as well as forming teams for the John Laing Cup.

A fast paced and exciting game the inclusion of this club gives the opportunity for people with severe physical disabilities the chance to play another team sport. Beware however that there is often contact between chairs in this sport. Specialist chairs are provided.

Sessions take place at the Academy between 7:00pm and 8:30pm on a Tuesday evening and the cost is £3 per person.
