Adam Parry, Sports Development Manager for Percy Hedley Sports Academy and Sports Department President of FIPFA (Federation Internationale de Powerchair Football Association) has recently returned from a visit to Singapore with the FIPFA President, Herve Delattre, where the aim of the visit was to assist the South East Asian country in developing Powerchair Football.

Over the two days the FIPFA delegation met with Singapore Disability Sports Council, Singapore Futsal Association and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore). Singapore already has a small Powerchair Football scheme that is being run by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore) who launched the sport in Singapore in February this year. Approximately twenty young people from around the city take part in the weekly training sessions.

During the visit the FIPFA delegates discussed Powerchair Football and the ways in which FIPFA could support Singapore with the intention of running a clinic later in the year.

Following the discussions the FIPFA delegates moved to the Handicap Welfare Association where they witnessed a Powerchair Football training session and passed on some hints and tips as well as helping to referee the game between the participants.
