The Lord Taverners Table Cricket Tournament

The 2nd Regional heat of The Lord Taverner's Table Cricket Tournament took place at the beautiful Riverside cricket ground, home of Durham County Cricket Club. This is Percy Hedley's first foray into Table Cricket and the day was a huge success.

We were up against three other teams from the North East, two from Oxclose, Sunderland, and Beaumont School in Durham, all of whom had the advantage of having taken part in this competition last year.

Our first match was a tight affair which we won by 4 runs! This set the tone for the day and we realised it was going to be tough. However we at Percy Hedley are made of stern stuff and after a tough round of fixtures they were delighted to have won the tournament.

Northern Thunder CC is now through to the final which will be played at the historic Lords Cricket ground - the home of cricket no less.

The team realise that with their limited experience of Table cricket it is going to be a huge ask for them to win but the team will give it their best shot. They are training now every week on a Thursday evening 5-6.30 and have two very good coaches on board. The whole team is really looking forward to the finals and all results will be on the web site after the event.

Video footage can be seen of the regional tournament by visiting the Lord Taverners or the Northern Echo web site.
