Percy Hedley staff contribute to international sports development

Percy Hedley Sports Academy, part of the Percy Hedley Foundation has led the development of Powerchair football both locally and internationally. Academy staff have been appointed to senior national and international posts, and disabled athletes from the North-East have achieved recognition in the national and international arena.

The Academy has been involved in developing Powerchair Football from the minute it arrived in England, and the Academy's role has changed more recently into ensuring that disabled people all over the world have the opportunity to take part in this fast and exciting sport.

Allen Harrison, member of the Sports Academy staff, is currently the head coach of the England National team and has recently returned from America where he was involved in training the next cohort of international referees.

Stewart Evans heads up the classification process for the International Governing body of Powerchair Football and with his experience brings a wealth of knowledge to this process.

Adam Parry, who also recently attended the referee's training in America, works within the National Governing Body and is an executive committee member for the International Governing Body. He will soon travel to Singapore to advise on developing Powerchair Football.

'Being able to take the experiences of Percy Hedley to new countries is a fantastic opportunity to help grow this sport. Within Percy Hedley we have helped shape the future of both the National and International governing body of Powerchair football and to be able to take these experiences to grow the sport on a global scale and gain recognition for Percy Hedley is of massive benefit.' Adam Parry, Sports Development Officer, Percy Hedley.

Adam Parry works for the Federation International De Powerchair Football Associations in a voluntary capacity and his roles include assisting in the development of new nations to Powerchair Football as well as controlling the rules of the sport and overseeing the entire Powerchair Football World Cup process.

'The team at Percy Hedley Sports Academy provides a great basis for the work we do with Powerchair Football and we are able to take weekly, if not daily experiences and pass them on globally. With the ethics from Percy Hedley and our own experiences we are a driving force behind the development of Powerchair Football globally and this is seen in the contact we have from people all over the world asking how to reproduce what we have done.' Adam Parry, Sports Development Officer, Percy Hedley.
